Klipspringer is a private safari lodge that combines the elements of exceptional wildlife, exquisite landscapes, luxury accommodation, welcoming hospitality and unparalleled photography experiences, into one destination.
Nestled within 30 000 hectares of pristine wilderness, our lodge is a sanctuary where luxury meets the wild. Just 40 minutes from Hoedspruit, we invite you to embark on a journey into the heart of the Greater Kruger, a realm where the big five roam freely, and the air is filled with the melodies of abundant birdlife.
At Klipspringer, we offer an escape from the ordinary, with a main lodge featuring 4 en-suite double/twin rooms and 2 private bush villas. Immerse yourself in the lush garden or witness passing wildlife at the waterhole from your private deck. The hide is only 50 meters from the Main Lodge (20m from the waterhole) which means that guests are free to wander to the hide at their leisure.Â
This tranquil lodge, surrounded by stunning gardens, provides the perfect setting to inspire creativity.
Embark on a transformative journey where art and photography blend seamlessly with conservation in the heart of South Africa. Our adventure begins at the breathtaking Samara Karoo Reserve, a testament to nature’s resilience and the power of rewilding. Nestled in the Great Karoo, this 67,000-acre sanctuary is a vibrant reminder of a bygone era when vast herds of springbok roamed freely, and the black-maned Cape lion ruled the Plains of Camdeboo. Today, Samara’s valleys and plains are alive with restored ecosystems, home once again to cheetahs, elephants, black rhinos, and the majestic lion.
One of the most thrilling experiences at Samara is the chance to track wild cheetahs on foot. Thanks to relaxed individuals, including the legendary Sibella, guests have been treated to exceptional wild cheetah encounters for years. Some cheetahs wear radio collars as part of a research and monitoring program, helping conservationists gather data while making it easier for guests to locate and observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat—a truly unforgettable connection with the wild.
This safari is more than an exploration of South Africa’s beauty; it’s an opportunity to give back. As you paint or photograph these iconic vistas, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of conservation’s role in safeguarding Africa’s wilderness for future generations. Join us on this unforgettable journey and be part of the legacy of preservation and creativity.
Internationally acclaimed wildlife artist, veterinarian, conservationist, and photographer
“With a unique blend of artistic expertise and a deep understanding of wildlife, I bring a lifetime of passion and experience to the ‘A Brush with Conservation’ safari in Africa. As an award-winning wildlife oil painter and practicing veterinarian, I have dedicated my career to bridging art, science, and conservation to inspire a profound appreciation for the natural world. My work celebrates the beauty and resilience of wildlife while raising awareness about the critical need to protect our planet’s most vulnerable species.
On this safari, we will embark on a journey like no other—witnessing and photographing animals in their natural habitat, engaging directly in hands-on conservation efforts alongside professionals, and exploring the art of truly seeing the natural world through fresh eyes. During our creative sessions, I will guide you through the process of transforming your favorite memory from the trip into a captivating oil painting. Whether you are an experienced artist or a curious beginner, this experience will enhance your skills and foster a deeper connection to nature and its preservation.”
All art supplies are provided as part of the safari, ensuring you have everything you need to create your masterpiece—from high-quality paints and brushes to canvas. Simply bring your creativity, and we’ll take care of the rest!
This small group, exclusive experience, is limited to 6 guests. The variety of activities are both life changing and a very big addition to the wildlife photography on offer.
RHINO CONSERVATION PROJECT
Our journey continues in the Greater Kruger area, where you will immerse yourself in a life-changing rhino conservation experience. This extraordinary day begins with an orientation session led by a seasoned conservationist, who will provide insight into the critical challenges rhinos face and the innovative strategies employed to protect them.
The highlight of the day is a hands-on conservation activity, where you’ll work alongside a dedicated team in a private rhino dehorning project. Dehorning is a non-harmful procedure that significantly reduces the risk of poaching by removing the incentive for illegal hunting. As you assist the team, you’ll have exclusive opportunities to photograph these iconic animals up close, capturing the essence of a powerful conservation effort while witnessing firsthand the dedication of those working to protect wildlife.
This unique experience not only allows you to contribute directly to wildlife preservation but also fosters a profound connection to Africa’s heritage. To prioritise the safety of the animals and avoid unnecessary intrusion into nature, the activity may occasionally involve different species based on specific needs, natural dynamics, and legal considerations.
