FOCUS FORWARD INITIATIVE
A CNP Safaris Initiative Supporting Friends of Photography Botswana
Give your old camera gear a second life.
Do you have a camera or lens sitting on a shelf gathering dust? Maybe an older DSLR, a lens you no longer use, or smaller memory cards that don’t fit your current setup? Through Focus Forward, your old gear can inspire a new generation of photographers in Botswana.
At CNP Safaris, we have always believed deeply in the power of conservation and education — and in this initiative, the two come beautifully together. By supporting this cause, we’re not only helping young people gain a creative skill that can shape their future, but also nurturing a love and respect for the natural world. Having hosted photographic safaris in Botswana since 2009, we feel it’s time to give back to this remarkable country and its people who have given us so much inspiration.
To grow this cause, we welcome partnerships with organisations and individuals who share our commitment to empowering youth through photography and conservation.
“Empower the next generation to see their world differently. Start by passing your lens forward.”
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Focus Forward is a CNP Safaris charity project that supports Friends of Photography Botswana, a grassroots initiative run by local teacher and photographer Edwin Morolong. The program teaches Botswana’s youth how to capture wildlife and nature through photography — fostering creativity, curiosity, and conservation awareness.
The project’s workshops and photo excursions at the Maun Education Park have shown the power of photography to connect young people with their environment. Our goal is to provide these aspiring photographers with the tools they need to grow — starting with the cameras and lenses you no longer use.
Friends of Photography Botswana — a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to conservation storytelling and youth empowerment. Official documentation is available on request.

SHE FRAMES THE WILD
She Frames the Wild is a groundbreaking storytelling programme that empowers girls and women in Botswana to share their own perspectives on wildlife, culture, and conservation through photography.
Led by Friends of Photography Botswana, the initiative provides hands-on field training, mentorship, and creative guidance to help participants develop confidence, technical skills, and a powerful voice in conservation storytelling.
By placing women behind the lens, She Frames the Wild is shaping a new generation of photographers and environmental advocates whose stories inspire awareness, equality, and lasting change.
