OKAVANGO DELTA | BOTSWANA
At first light the channels of the northern Okavango hold their breath. Mist lifts off the floodplain, a francolin calls, and somewhere ahead a Bukakhwe Bushman tracker has already read the night’s story in the sand.
Our Okavango Delta, Botswana safari takes a small group of photographers into the NG12 concession, one of the most remote corners of the Delta. Permanent channels, lagoons, seasonal floodplains, grassland and mixed woodland lie side by side here. That variety brings predators, especially wild dogs, along with lion, leopard, cheetah, large elephant herds and exceptional birdlife.
Because NG12 is a private concession and not a national park, we can track responsibly off-road, drive after dark and explore on foot. That means more sightings, closer and at better angles, with fewer vehicles around you.
Your CNP photographer is beside you the whole time, helping with settings, positioning and light as the action unfolds.
Okavango Origins: the whole camp, just for us
Okavango Origins is a small, classic tented camp on a channel deep in the northern Delta. On our departures CNP takes the entire camp, so it’s just our group of 6 – 8 guests, the camp team and the wilderness.
- Five spacious tents with full-size beds, set up as twins or a king
- En-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and pressurised, on-demand hot water
- Solar-powered lights, fans and plug points in every tent, so batteries are charged and ready each morning
- A central lounge and dining tent on a deck over the water
- Freshly cooked meals and cold drinks included
- Satellite Wi-Fi in camp, for those who want it
- Wild dogs: NG12 is known for some of the finest wild dog sightings in Africa.
- Big cats: strong numbers of lion and leopard, with cheetah on the open grassland.
- Guided by Bukakhwe Bushman trackers: our guides come from Gudigwa village, and their families have lived in this region for generations. They read spoor, sounds and behaviour to put you in position before the action starts, not after it.
- A purpose-built game viewer, all to ourselves:
- Open sides and a flip-down windscreen for clear, low angles.
- Bucket seats, and adjustable armrests that double as camera rests.
- Plug points to keep batteries charged.
- Our group has a private vehicle, so every seat is a window seat.
- Exclusive use: six – eight guests, a private camp, no crowded sightings.
- Off-road tracking: permitted in the concession, so we can follow tracks to the action and choose our angle and background.
- Night drives and walks: neither is possible in national parks, and both add images you can’t get anywhere else.
- Hands-on photography guidance: help with settings, positioning and light in the field, plus image review in camp.
- Two seasons:
- June/July: winter, with clear skies, cool golden mornings and water spreading across the Delta.
- September/October: dry heat, thinning bush and wildlife drawn to the remaining water.
29 June – 05 July 2027 (6 nights / 7 days)
28 September – 03 Oktober 2027 (5 nights / 6 days)
