ETOSHA PHOTO SAFARI | NAMIBIA
Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s great wildlife destinations—a vast, shimmering wilderness of open savannahs, ancient mopane woodlands, and the hauntingly beautiful Etosha Pan. At over 22,000 square kilometres, it’s a place where animals congregate in staggering numbers around life-giving waterholes, making it one of the most rewarding parks in Africa for game viewing and wildlife photography. From endangered black rhinos to herds of elephant and dramatic predator-prey interactions, Etosha offers raw, wild Africa at its best—set in a malaria-free environment and easily accessible by road from Windhoek.
What makes Etosha especially compelling for photographers is the drama and density of wildlife at its many waterholes. Whether you’re capturing golden-hour silhouettes of giraffes at sunset, herds of springbok kicking up dust, or elephants emerging ghost-like from the pan, the photographic opportunities here are frequent and compelling. Some camps, like Okaukuejo, even offer floodlit waterholes where lions and rhinos drink under the stars—providing rare opportunities for atmospheric night photography in a completely natural setting.
This is a small group safari designed for photographers, using a CNP Safaris custom-built photographic vehicle with just three dedicated photography seats. Each participant enjoys an exclusive setup with ample space, unobstructed views, and personalised attention. With flexible game drive schedules, expert guidance, and access to prime locations, you’ll be positioned to take full advantage of Etosha’s golden light, minimalist backdrops, and dramatic wildlife behaviour.
This is not just a safari—it’s a photographic journey into the quiet intensity of Namibia’s most iconic park. With time and space to slow down, observe deeply, and refine your vision, every waterhole becomes a stage, and every moment holds the potential for an image that tells a story. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your portfolio, Etosha will leave you inspired.
Okaukuejo Camp
Located just 17 km from Anderson Gate, Okaukuejo is the oldest and most well-known camp in Etosha. It serves as the administrative hub of the park and is home to the Etosha Ecological Institute. The camp’s standout feature is its iconic floodlit waterhole, which draws wildlife day and night and is especially popular for after-dark viewing.
A wide variety of animals—including elephants, lions, giraffes, and the rare black rhino—gather here regularly, offering guests the rare opportunity to witness natural wildlife interactions just metres from their room, even after sunset.
Accommodation options include comfortable Double Rooms with en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, a mini fridge, and tea and coffee facilities—perfect for a relaxing and restful stay after a rewarding day out on safari.
Namutoni Camp
Set around the historic German-built Fort Namutoni near Von Lindequist Gate, this eastern camp combines character with comfort. Stroll along elevated walkways, admire Makalani palms, enjoy stunning sundowners from the fort walls, and look out over the King Nehale waterhole—a busy meeting point for game and birds alike.
The Bush chalets are spacious en‑suite units with double showers, fridge, tea/coffee station, sliding doors to a private relaxation area and outdoor shower.
Game viewing from the camp is excellent, especially near nearby waterholes such as Kalkheuwel, Tsumcor, Chudob and others—rich in wildlife and birds during all seasons.
