ZAMBEZI RIVER PHOTO SAFARI | NAMIBIA - CARMINE BEE-EATER
Zambezi Mubala Lodge is a paradise for bird-lovers, with a rich diversity of over 450 species of birds.
One of the biggest colonies of carmine bee-eaters in Africa also visits during springtime. These vibrant and lively birds nest along the banks of the Zambezi between August and December, filling the atmosphere with their vibrant colors and energetic movements. They are known for their crimson breasts and their playful swooping and rising into the air, creating a stunning display of natural beauty.
Let CNP Safaris help you capture the numerous bird species on the river. Your photography is made all the better by using dedicated photographic boats with swivel chairs and gimbal heads. This unique feature helps make it light work of even the heaviest camera equipment and allows you to view all from eye level & much closer than you could on land.
Your professional CNP tour leader will be with you every step of the way, making sure you get the best possible photographic results.
Zambezi Mubala is a newly-built, modern, innovative and stylish river hideaway. It is a secret spot where the water of the mighty Zambezi laps the shores, and you can hear the laughter of hippos and the calls of fish eagles piercing the vast blue sky.
As you cruise downriver, you can enter the enchanted Mubala world and witness vervet monkeys scampering through the trees, swamp boubous’ melodic banter ringing through the air, and tree squirrels hopping nimbly from branch to branch.
The lodge pays tribute to the colors of the water, surrounding riverine vegetation, and the clear blue sky by adopting the local Silozi name for color, ‘Mubala.’ It tastefully explores this delicious theme in its shades of gentle blues and sea greens that punctuate wicker chairs and tint bungalow walls.
You can revel in the peaceful surroundings, the celebration of birdlife, and the rich colors of life that pass by, drifting on the steady current of the river.
Words can not describe the world class photographic opportunities for passionate Bird Photographers created by thousands of nesting Carmine Bee Eaters.
They dip into the cool waters of the Zambezi River for a drink, they swiftly catch insects and bring it to their nests that are only a few meters away from photographers, their territorial fights normally starts on the ground to be continued as areal battles as they patrol the sky against a setting African sun.
All of this under the constant threat of different birds of prey looking for their next meal. What is more they share the Zambezi sky with around 480 other bird species.
