Central India is one of the world’s most rewarding regions for tiger photography, and this 10-day safari combines two of Madhya Pradesh’s most celebrated reserves: Bandhavgarh and Kanha. These classic Indian jungle landscapes offer sal forests, bamboo, open meadows, rocky ridges and winding safari tracks — a beautiful setting for photographing wildlife in natural surroundings. With private jeep safaris, experienced local guides and daily photographic guidance from a CNP Safaris Tour Leader, Neal Cooper, the focus is not only on sightings, but on making the most of every photographic opportunity.
Bandhavgarh is especially well known for its strong tiger reputation and dramatic scenery. Its forested valleys, grasslands and ancient landscape give photographers a rich variety of backdrops, from soft morning light through the trees to dusty tracks and open meadows where wildlife may appear at any moment. While the Bengal tiger is the headline species, the park also offers excellent opportunities to photograph a wide range of mammals and birds.
Kanha offers a different but equally beautiful safari experience, with an important conservation story. It is one of India’s key tiger reserves and is also known for the hard-ground barasingha, a species brought back from the brink through conservation work in the park. For photographers, Kanha’s open grasslands, forest edges and varied wildlife make it ideal for building a more complete India portfolio.
Kings Lodge, Bandhavgarh
Kings Lodge is an eco-luxury wildlife lodge set in a 14-hectare natural forested estate near Bandhavgarh National Park, just a short drive from the Tala Gate. Surrounded by sal forested hills and close to the heart of tiger country, the lodge offers comfortable cottages with private verandahs, a quiet wilderness setting, and a strong sustainability focus, including single-use-plastic-free operations and eco-sensitive design.
Kanha Earth Lodge
Kanha Earth Lodge is an eco-luxe lodge set in 16 acres of natural forest bordering Kanha’s buffer zone, around 25 minutes from the Khatia Park Gate. Its cottages are inspired by Gond tribal architecture and designed with local materials, offering a peaceful forest stay with a strong focus on sustainability, conservation, local cuisine and guided nature experiences.
